The Principal's Office
Dear RNE Family,
This week, I had the opportunity to attend the North Fulton Chamber's business partner expo. I made many connections and look forward to establishing new partnerships with local businesses for our school.
We announced our finalists for Teacher and Professional Employee of the Year. Roswell North is fortunate to have a building full of amazing educators who keep students first in all they do. I am pleased to share the names of those selected by their peers for this honor.
Teacher of the year finalists:
EB Blount- 2nd Grade
Brittney Martin- Kindergarten
Missy Trice- 3rd Grade
Jessica Weingart- Music Specialist
On Monday, these ladies will be observed by our panel and participate in an interview to select the final winner.
Professional Employee of the Year finalists:
Meredith Gartner- Media Instructional Para Professional
Loletha Glass- Cafeteria Manager
Cathy Landers- Instructional Para Professional Kindergarten
Cathy Pitts- Speech and Language Teacher
Liz Rains- Instructional Para Professional Computer Lab/Garden/Kitchen
We will announce the winners next week.
As many of you are aware, we have focused on the implementation of writer's workshop for all students. The growth in the area of writing has exceeded our expectations. I have included a short video, produced by the video department from Roswell High School, to give you an inside peek into the work teachers and students are doing in writing. We have many other Magic Moments in the works to share with you throughout the remainder of the year thanks to our partnership with the students at Roswell High School.
I hope to see many of you this Saturday during our community Share the Love day!
Enjoy the weekend!
Maureen

Strep throat is a common infectious illness in children, so please do not be alarmed. The infection is spread from person to person through contact with droplets from the nose and mouth of an infected person. The illness can develop within one to five days after coming in contact with an infected person. A person is most contagious from onset of symptoms until 24 hours after antibiotic treatment. A child diagnosed with strep throat should only return to school after receiving at least 24 hours of antibiotic treatment and has no fever for 24 hours. We are asking parents to provide the school with a written document from the student’s physician clearing him/her to return to school when a student is diagnosed with strep throat. In addition, should your child be diagnosed with strep throat, it is important that he/she completes the entire course of antibiotics, even if the symptoms improve prior to completing the medication.
Please know the school has taken several precautions to prevent any further spread of the illness. However, as with many other infectious illnesses, the best measure to prevent the spread of strep throat is through good hand washing, careful disposal of tissue, avoiding sharing beverages and eating utensils, as well as disposing any used toothbrushes, when diagnosed.

SGA Elections
Roswell North Elementary will be electing new representatives to serve on the School Governance Council. This year we have two parent/guardian positions and one teacher position open for election this March. Our School Governance Council has a leadership role in the governance of the school. The Council works with the principal on the long-term vision and strategy for the school. They are responsible for approving the school’s strategic plan and budget recommendations, as well as design innovative solutions to increase academic achievement and meet the unique needs of our school community. This year, our Council worked diligently with our principal and leadership to write and unveil a new strategic plan that supports academic growth so all students achieve or exceed grade level mastery.
Elections for the parent/guardian and teacher positions on the School Governance Council will be held March 22nd – March 28th. Candidates interested in running for an elected position on the Council must complete a candidate declaration form and submit to the district office by February 17th.
