PSAT8
March 30, 2021
Hello Students and Parents,
We will be administering the PSAT8 to all 8th-grade students on Tuesday, April 13. This is a required state test for all of our students. This includes 100% remote learning students and VAAC students. There will be a separate testing location within the building for all of our remote students. Testing will begin at 8:00 AM and conclude by 11:05 AM. Remote students should plan to be at the building by 8:00 as their test will start shortly after the rest of the building and conclude between 11:30 and 11:50.
If you will be unable to take your student to the building on this date, please contact me so we can work out a test make-up date and time.
The PSAT8 is the first test in the SAT Suite of Assessments. It sets a readiness baseline, allowing students and teachers to pinpoint areas for focused practice as students progress through High School (Michigan Coordinator Manual, College Board. Pg 3)
This paper and pencil test covers reading, writing, and mathematics and is composed of both a calculator and a non-calculator section of the test.
Students will be sent home with the PSAT 8/9 Student guide before Spring Break. This guide contains valuable information about the nature of the test and tips for a successful test day.
Students should come to school on the day of the test fully rested and with the following materials:
Two No. 2 pencils
Scientific Calculator (Not graphing)
Water bottle clearly labeled with the student’s name
If your student does not have these materials, they will be provided by the school.
Please let me know if you have any questions about the PSAT8 or any of our testing procedures.
Sincerely,
Scott Stockwell
