Different Ways to Acquire Resources

Fracking, Drilling, and Mining

Surface vs Sub-Surface

Surface mining is much different than Sub-Surface mining due to that fact that one is above ground and one is below Surface mining is used to remove the soil and rock on top of the surface but Sub-Surface mining is used to obtain the resources below the ground such as Oil and Natural gas

Ocean Drilling

Offshore drilling is a mechanical process where a wellbore is drilled below the seabed. It is typically carried out in order to explore for and subsequently extract petroleum which lies in rock formations beneath the seabed. The environmental issues involve the fracking that they do for natural gas and other resources could injure most animal life and/or habitats.

Land Drilling

Onshore drilling relates to drilling deep holes under the earth surface in order to extract natural resources. The environmental concerns of Land Drilling are the fracking could hit the water table and cause our water to be infected or go lower than the water table and lead the water table to a lower level causing a collapse

Fracking- The process of injecting liquid at high pressure into subterranean rocks, boreholes, etc., so as to force open existing fissures and extract oil or gas.

The environmental effects are that it could infect our water when it is done on land and severely cut off our water supply or on the offshore could affect many marine animals and habitats.
