Flipped Classroom

Goal: to increase student achievement and save class time!

What is a flipped classroom anyways?

The "Flipped Classroom" refers to pedagogical model in which the typical lecture and homework elements of a course are reversed. Short video lectures are viewed by students at home before the class session, while in-class time is devoted to exercises, projects, or discussions.

Why should we do this?

Some benefits of the flipped classroom include:

  • More time to work directly with students
  • Reinforces concepts for absent students, or those who require reteaching
  • Allows students to learn at their own pace

It's our job to service students in the most effective and efficient ways possible. View this as an opportunity to assess whether or not we are doing that currently. If not, this is just one of many strategies that we can employ on a trial basis to see if we get real, quantifiable results.

How do you flip a lesson?

How is this gonna work?

Simple! We will all work together to create a few short lessons. We will observe each other, reflect, and go from there! You won't be asked to do too much at a time, you will have me as a constant source of support!
