Welcome Kindergarten Families

Information for starting our school year -

Kindergarten Families,

I am so excited to start this year and I'm guessing you are too! I know you are filled with lots of questions and I'm hoping I can answer many of them for you in this special newsletter.

Mrs. DiNatale continues to teach our kindergarten students in room #302, and Mrs. Eaton took a year leave so our new teacher in room #300 is Mrs. Wolf. We feel very fortunate to have her this year. She is already part of our Park View community which is an extra bonus.

Our school year begins on Wednesday, August 18th. Kindergarten students start with three half days that begin at 8:30 am and end at 11:40 am the first week back. Students will be in school five days per week and starting Monday (8/23) kindergarteners will stay the full day (8:30 - 3:15 pm) and have lunch everyday at school. The K-1 lunch time begins at 11:15 am and immediately following lunch will be recess. The kindergarten students will enter/exit school at Door #2. This is located in the front of the building on the North end near the baseball diamond.

Masks are mandated and must be worn in the building by all adults and students. Teachers will provide mask breaks outside and recesses throughout the day. The classroom is set up for students to space three feet while masked. When we eat lunch inside masks are removed and students will be spaced six feet apart. This is to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. We will have students wash their hands before eating and at other times throughout the day.

We have updated our Healthy=Here booklet that has information regarding procedures we follow when a student is diagnosed with COVID-19, or needs to be quarantined. Please review this document so you are familiar with our protocols.

There is more information included in this Kindergarten newsletter, but I hope the information above answers many of your general questions regarding the start of our year. Our school newsletters will continue to give you more information and will be coming out shortly.

Class Lists

Please access our lists below to find out which classroom your child will be in.

Snack Information

Did you know District #44 has a healthy snack list that we ask all parents to follow? I am including it in a link below. Kindergarteners will have the opportunity for an afternoon snack this year. Please follow this list with one modification. Because masks will be worn in the classroom, students should only bring snacks they can easily pop into their mouth without a spoon or fork. Please skip the applesauce, yogurt cup, canned fruit, or any other snack that needs a utensil. We also ask that your child bring a filled water bottle to school each day. We have bottle fillers students can use that are attached to our water fountains, but the fountain part is closed. A water bottle with a straw like top is the easiest to use with a mask. Thank You!

Parent/Student Orientation for Kindergarten Families

This past Spring, we were not able to have a Kindergarten Orientation for our students and parents because of the many unknowns we were facing, but now decisions have been made so we would like to invite you all to come with your kindergartener to Park View School on Thursday, August 12th from 6:00 - 6:45 pm. You will enter at Door #2 in the front of the building on the North end by the baseball field. That is the same entrance/exit kindergarteners will use every school day at Park View. Please remember all adults and children must wear a mask inside. Students will get to go into their classrooms, meet their teachers and experience some fun activities. Parents will come into the gym for a presentation question/answer with the school nurse, Mrs. Rymut; and myself. Bring any questions you still have and your drivers license so Mrs.Overton, our school secretary, can put it through our Raptor system. This will make coming to school for any events easier during the year.

Supply Drop Off / Meet the Teacher

Each year, we give students and families the opportunity to drop off their school supplies before our first day back. This year our Supply Drop-Off / Meet the Teacher will be held on two different days to minimize the size of the crowd coming into the school at once. If your last name begins with A - K, you can drop off your supplies and meet your teacher on Monday, August 16th from 12:30 - 1:00 pm. If your last name begins with L - Z, you can drop off your supplies and meet the teacher on Tuesday, August 17th from 12:30 - 1:00 pm. Please remember all adults and students must wear masks inside. We are looking forward to seeing all our Park View Families!!

Park View Fall Curriculum Night 21-22

This year we will have our Fall Curriculum Night on Wednesday, August 25th from 6:00 - 7:05 pm. This event is only for parents and we offer two different sessions for families with multiple children at Park View. The first session is 6:00 - 6:30 pm for all K-5 classrooms. The second session is 6:35 - 7:05 pm for all K-5 classrooms. Teachers will go through all the important information about what your child(ren)'s year will cover academically. The teacher will also go over procedures and important information you will need for the school year. This is one of our most important events for parents to help you build that strong bond with your child(ren)'s teacher(s) and navigate your child(ren)'s school year smoothly. We hope to see 100% of our families here at all grade levels.
