Something Fishy Going On
The WHS Bass Tournament Team weathered the wind and extremely finicky fish over the weekend at the Texas High School Bass Association Tournament at Lake Ray Roberts. Max Adair (NGC) and Hayden Johnson both hooked some fish, but their catch was under the legal limit, as was the case for many of the 231 teams from across the area. Bradley Slovak and Mathew McDougall kept their top 25 streak alive with a 21st place finish, weighing in 3 fish at 6.51 pounds.
The team is looking forward to the November tournament at Possum Kingdom Lake.
Congratulations Optimist Texan and Texanne of November & December
The representatives for December will be Aubrey Dillinger and Matt Gilbert.
Congratulations to these outstanding students on their excellent character!

WISD Education Foundation Student Scholar Athlete of the Week
Varsity Cross Country runner Austin Christmas is this week’s Education Foundation Student Athlete of the Week.
Austin Christmas is a varsity cross country and track athlete who started running in grade school with his family. Then he started cross country and track at Hall Middle School as a 7th grader and loved it. He lettered as a freshman in cross county and in track his sophomore year. This past summer, Austin competed with Weatherford’s Mach I Summer Track program where he placed 2nd in the 800m and 4th in the 1500m… those rankings allowed him to advance to the National Junior Olympics in Kansas in both events.
In his senior year placed 4th at the District Cross Country meet and advanced to run at the Regional meet that will be held in Lubbock on Monday, October 23.
Austin has also lettered in choir as a member of Kanga Singers and Acapella Choir every year since 9th grade. And…just this week he was named the WHS October Optimist Young Texan of the month. He takes AP courses and is an A/B honor roll student. Austin is a member of the SALT team at Northside Baptist Church and very active in his youth group there. After high school he plans to major in Mechanical Engineering and attend ACU.
Congratulations to Austin Christmas…this week’s Education Foundation Student Athlete of the Week!
