THE HAIL MARY
Hail Mary, full of grace.
Our Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.

FOUNDER’S DAY CELEBRATIONS
Our school gathered on Friday 7 August to celebrate the Feast Day for St Mary MacKillop (Saturday 8 August). I thank Fr. Benny and all involved in preparing and leading this Mass. Students then returned to class to engage in a range of activities, as a part of our Founder’s Day celebrations. It was great to see the excitement and engagement as I visited classrooms during the day. Thank you to our teachers for organising these activities. Please see Mr Sibbald’s section of the newsletter for more information and some photos.
FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION MASS
We will come together as a school community for the Feast of the Assumption Mass on Friday 14 August at 9:00am. This Mass will take place in the MacKillop Centre.
SACRAMENT OF FIRST RECONCILIATION
I ask that you keep our First Reconciliation candidates in your Prayers, as they prepare for this important step in their faith journey. This Sacrament will take place on Tuesday 25 August at St Brigid’s Church, beginning at 5:00pm.
JUNIOR FACTION CARNIVAL & FACTION FIELD EVENTS
Our Pre-Primary – Year Two students are busily preparing for the Junior Faction Carnival (Thursday 27 August). At the same time, our Year Three – Year Six students are preparing for the Faction Field Events (Friday 4 September). Please see the information from Mr Harris regarding these exciting events.
YEAR FOUR CAMP & END OF YEAR FUN DAY
Our Year Four students and parents were advised this week that the Year Four camp will not take place this year. This is due to several factors, including COVID-19 restrictions. With COVID-19 restrictions having a direct impact on non-essential school activities, the safety and wellbeing of students and staff is our priority.
As a staff, we have decided to introduce an end of year fun day for Pre-Kindy – Year Five. This will take place on Wednesday 9 December – a standalone day from the traditional Year Six excursion day. Teachers will be organising a day of fun to celebrate a year of learning. This may involve students attending an incursion or excursion.
We are currently developing our new school website. As a part of this website development, I would like to include testimonials from parents and caregivers, sharing positive experiences of our school. If you would like to prepare a short testimonial, to be included on our new school website, please email it to email@example.com. Thank you.
PRE-KINDY & KINDY 2021
I continue to interview for Pre-Kindy and Kindy 2021. Places for both programs are filling up fast. If you are interested in enrolling your child for Pre-Kindy or Kindy next year, I encourage you to book an interview time with me through the front office. If you have friends or family who are considering educational options for their child next year, I ask that you recommend our school as an option.
Our 2020 Pre-Kindy program is now at full capacity, with a waitlist. If you know of anyone interested in joining Pre-Kindy this year, please ask them to contact the office so we can place their name on the waitlist.

PARENT RECONCILIATION MEETING
Thank you to the parents and family members who attended the recent Parish Parent Reconciliation meeting. Fr Greg Donovan provided a most informative presentation of Reconciliation, the meaning of the Parable of the Prodigal Son (Forgiving Father) and presence in our lives today. Please continue to pray and support your child as they prepare for this sacrament of peace.
The Year Three Classes will be participating in their First Reconciliation Retreat Day this coming Monday 17 August.
FOUNDER'S DAY MASS AND CELEBRATIONS
Congratulations to all children, staff and parents for the wonderful participation in our Mary MacKillop Mass. It has been almost six months since our last Eucharistic Celebration and it was so lovely to gather again to acknowledge our blessings, especially in difficult times. The MacKillop, Mercy, Joseph & Francis Murals, set a wonderful backdrop to our Feast Day Mass and the Year Six Readers are to be acknowledged for their excellent contribution. We raised over $500 from gold coin donations, thank you parent for your support. The children then spent the rest of the day participating in fun activities related to St Brigid’s Traditions.
FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION
We will be having a Whole School Mass this coming Friday, 14 August, to celebrate this very important Feast Day. Mass will be hosted by the Year Five Classes and held at our MacKillop Hall beginning at 9.00am. Parents are warmly invited to join us.
