Mrs. Amy Schwiegerath
Thank you to our staff and students for such an incredibly warm welcome this week. Several years ago I had the pleasure of serving as Principal at Lewistown Elementary. While there, I developed a great appreciation for the Thurmont community. Upon my arrival, I was reminded of the hometown feel here.
I look forward to working with you for the remainder of the school year.
I live in Frederick with my husband, 3 daughters, and 3 pups. My oldest daughter is a teacher in Montgomery County and my youngest is the 4th grade. I've spent this year watching how hard our teachers and students are working. And how hard our caregivers are working too!
Mrs. Putnam and I are excited to be here. Please know that we are here to ensure that April, May, and June are smooth for you and your family. Let us know if you need anything from us.
And most of all, thank you for sending us such awesome students!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Schwiegerath (Sh-Why- Grath)
Mrs. Heather Putnam
Dear TES Community,
I am very excited to join the Thurmont Elementary School Community as Assistant Principal to finish out this school year. I absolutely love this role of supporting students, staff and community.
I have been an Assistant Principal for 8 years, most recently serving the Glade Community in Walkersville. Prior to this, I had the pleasure of being at Brunswick Elementary for 5 years.
I began my career in 1998 teaching second grade for three years in Washington County after earning my undergraduate degree from Shepherd University. In 2001, I transferred to Frederick County accepting a position at Parkway Elementary. I remained there for thirteen years in a variety of positions including: classroom teacher, interventionist and Literacy Specialist.
I look forward to meeting you and your children in the coming weeks!
Sincerely,
Heather Putnam
