Santa Shop
Season’s Greetings,
We are inviting you to participate in the annual “Stockbridge Santa Shop” event at Smith Elementary School. This event makes it possible for students of all ages to experience the joy of choosing their own holiday gifts for family and friends.
This event will be set-up in the main lobby (near the library)
School hours on December 7th
School hours on December 8th
During the evening of the Smith Winter Carnival December 8th
Students and parent volunteers from Mr. Nichols, Mrs. Nichols, and
Mr. Sparks’ class will be hosting the event. Our students have selected items for every person on your shopping list. Prices for the items range from $1.00- $10.00. All profits from the event will go toward supporting school projects and classroom technology.
We hope your child will be a part of this wonderful experience! Some families find it helpful to send in money with a detailed list on who to buy gifts for and how much they should spend on each family member. Thank you for your support!
Happy Holidays!
Mrs. Nichols Mr. Nichols Mr. Sparks
Hour of Code
Next week, Smith Elementary, like many schools across the country, will be participating in the nationally recognized Hour of Code. All students, kindergarten through third grade, will be coding during their STEM classroom time.
What is coding? Coding, in the simplest of terms, is telling a computer what you want it to do, which involves typing in step-by-step commands for the computer to follow. With the increase of computer science job related opportunities, we want our students to have a chance to begin learning this basic skill. It is made to be fun and age appropriate with a variety of choices using characters and games that are already familiar to students.
I have previewed a number of the programs suited to our age group of students at Smith and will be making them available to the students so they may choose the one or ones of most interest to them. Please see our Smith STEM Facebook page for more information or click on the link below.
