OPEC
Oil cartel
OPEC ( organization of the petroleum exporting countries) is an organization consisting of the worlds major oil- exporting countries. During the 1960s, OPEC raised oil prices, and when a war broke out between Israel, Egypt, and Syria the united states sided with Israel causing OPEC to not give the U.S any oil. Some of the countries in OPEC are Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, and Indonesia.
When OPEC stopped giving the united states oil, this causes extremely long lines at gas stations. American people had to cut back on driving and using anything for gas. When OPEC started to sell oil back to the united states again, the prices quadrupled.
