The Hungate Echo
Sherburn Hungate Weekly News - Autumn Term - Issue 5
A word from Mr Broom.
On Tuesday we had over 20 visiting headteachers and lead mathematics teachers in school, when they came to visit an exemplar lesson delivered by Miss Mackay. The many comments I had about how wonderful our children are were very heartwarming. We have amazing children here and I must admit, we like to show them off!
Thank you to those who completed the Parent/Carer survey. If you've yet to do it, click here. Once again, many positives and a few things to work on, mainly around how we share information about our curriculum. So in response, all our curriculum information can be found on our school website and there will be a link to this on our main noticeboard at the front of school.
Thank you also to those of you who have completed a 'staff shout out'. I can't tell you how much the staff really appreciate these and it really gives a positive feel around school.
Have a lovely week ahead.

School Start Times Reminder
School doors open at 0840 and children are met on the playground by their teacher.
School doors close at 0845. After this time, children are late to school.
We have a few children who are persistently late and we need to ensure that they arrive on time so that they can start their learning. Please support us with this.
School Photographs
Photographs for this period have to be wrapped up by 0845 and therefore, we offer this on a 'first-come-first-serve' basis. Children, don't forget to bring your smile!

School Attendance
It's important that children attend school regularly and at Sherburn Hungate we recognise that excellent attendance leads to excellent achievement. Fact!
Congratulations to our Year 1 children who are our attendance champions in school this week with 98.2%!
Our average attendance this week is 95.5% which is below the national average. We have had a lot of bugs going around so hopefully this will just be a little dip.
We have a small number of children whose attendance is well below the national expectations. These children are known as persistently absent when their attendance falls below 90%. I will be making telephone calls to parents of these children.
Thank you for your continued support with our attendance drive. It is really appreciated.
Home/School Agreement
For this reason, we're asking all parents to complete the Home/School Agreement form found at the link below. The Agreement includes permissions for technology use and local visits to name a few. Please complete it as soon as possible. Our admin team will continue to send the Agreement to you until we receive a response.
Thank you for your support with this.
