Newsletter Week 7 Term 2 2022

St Joseph's Catholic School Morrinsville - June 14th

Principal's Message

Kia ora Koutou,

It has been such a great week. Cross country was just awesome and we are so proud of the children and the amazing effort they put in. We received such great comments from families and staff about the event. Thank you for your wonderful feedback.

Tonight is the second round of Student-Led Conferences. We are very proud of our learning at St Joes and look forward to the children sharing learning with you. If you have been unable to make the conferences, just let the class teacher/s know and they can arrange another time for you.

A special welcome to Georgia Hainsworth. Georgia has joined Akonga Hub and is really lucky to have her big brother Flynn at school. We are so excited that you are now 5, Georgia!

We have some great events coming up. We have a team of 24 representing our school at the Morrinsville Schools' District Cross Country Event tomorrow. It is a big step up from our course, as the children will be trudging through mud and running up steep hills at the Tahuna Golf Course. We wish them the very best of luck! on Friday we have six teams taking part in the Basketball Fun Day, learning some new skills. We know they will have fun. On 21 June, year 7 and 8 have Winter Tourney in Hamilton. Let's hope the weather improves!

Have a fantastic week, take care and God bless.

Jumping June

We are practising our skipping ready for Jumping June. The children have been gifted their own rope. It is so cool to see everyone having a go. The music is blasting and hearts are pumping!

Cross Country 2022

One thing that shone through at Cross Country was the strength of our tuakana-teina relationships at school. In almost every race we had children supporting children, running alongside, shouting words of encouragement and applauding at the end of the race. This is what makes our school so special.

Congratulations to our learning certificate recipients. You are shining!

Parish Catering Team ... Can You Assist

We are a group of volunteers who cater for funerals

(and sometimes other functions) at the

St Joseph’s Church, Morrinsville.

This is rather a social activity, as we get to chat as well as provide a vital service to our Parish family, at a time of need.

We have a morning crew, who prepare sandwiches and set up and an afternoon crew who serve and clean up.

If you could spare an occasional 2 hours to help, please contact

Barbara ph 027 309 4362 for more information. Many thanks.

Reflection

This weekend we have ten students making the sacrament of First Holy Communion. They have spent the past few months preparing to receive the Holy Eucharist, which is the eating of consecrated bread and drinking of consecrated wine. We thank the families for supporting their children in their faith journey. Mass is on Sunday 19 June at 9 am. Come and celebrate!
