PSSA at Skyview
This letter was sent home with students on 3/17/16:
PSSA testing is quickly approaching. Through the work our teachers and students do on a daily basis, we expect our students will be prepared for the upcoming state tests in reading, writing, and math. Participation in PSSA is required by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. It is our goal to have 100% participation on the PSSA tests. To this end, please note the following testing schedule:
English/Language Arts - ELA
4 Total Sections
Monday, April 11th through Thursday, April 14th
Mathematics
3 Total Sections
Tuesday, April 19th through Thursday, April 21st
Testing sessions will occur in the morning only on all days with one test scheduled per day.
In order to help your child prepare for the PSSA, please be sure he/she gets plenty of sleep the night before and eats breakfast each morning. If you are aware of any reason that your child will not be at school on one or more of the testing days, please contact the main office at 610-489-5000 *34200 so that make-up testing may be arranged. State mandate allows for make-up testing that extends several days beyond our scheduled testing dates. Any necessary make-up testing will take place immediately upon a student’s return to school.
On the testing days, students may bring some hard candy or gum to consume during the tests. These items should be small in size (Life Savers, Jolly Ranchers, etc.) and should be unwrapped and placed in a small Ziploc bag that can be placed on the student’s desk. This will ensure that students eat only those items provided by their parents. By doing this, it also eliminates the distracting sound of unwrapping candy during testing.
On the reverse of this letter please find important information from the Pennsylvania Department of Education regarding the electronic device policy for PSSA testing. Please note that electronic devices that could compromise the security of the assessment, including such items as cell phones and e-readers, are not permitted in the testing room.
Information from Methacton School District can be viewed here.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about PSSA testing.
Thank you for your assistance with the important testing process.
