October Newsletter
K-Beach Elementary
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We have had a wonderful start to our school year and student behavior has been excellent! This does not happen by accident. Thank you for your positive influence in developing the character of your child.
Please take a moment to pass on an encouraging word to your child. Positive praise goes a long way in reinforcing desired behaviors. As a reminder, if you are in the building and you witness our students modeling safe, respectful, and responsible behavior, please feel free to share a compliment with the individual or class you observe.
As a school, we focus on acknowledging and reinforcing positive behavior. Your compliments have a direct impact on the success students and classes have in reaching their behavior goals.
Thank you for your continued support!

Positive Office Referrals
We are continuing “Positive Office Referrals” this year! Staff members can send down any student who is displaying positive behavior in our school. These students come to the office, pick out a prize, and get a positive phone call home. Congratulations to the students who have been recognized so far this year!

Federal Regulations
To meet federal regulation surrounding the federal funds Kenai Peninsula Borough School District receives and distributes to qualifying schools we are informing parents that all teaching staff in Kenai Peninsula Borough School District meet state of Alaska teacher certification requirements.
To meet federal regulation surrounding the federal funds Kenai Peninsula Borough School District receives we are providing this link to School Index Rating, or https://education.alaska.gov/compass/. When statewide school closures to students occurred in spring 2020 due to COVID-19, the state required assessment (PEAKs) was not administered and therefore Commissioner of Education Michael Johnson notified districts that the 2018-2019 rating would be carried forward.
