Findley Flyer 5/4/23
Engage.Connect.Grow
Dear Findley Families,
We are getting closer to the finish line of the 2022-2023 school year with only 15 school days left! Our K-2 students have completed their iReady End of Year diagnostic in reading and math and have shown some amazing growth. This week our 3-5 grade students started Georgia Milestones, which will continue through May 11.
May 15-18 our school will "travel" to Italy. If your child was here last spring, you may remember that we "traveled" to South Africa. Students will have the opportunity to experience another country right from their own classrooms. Students in all grades will immerse themselves in another culture though fun and engaging activities around the language, geography, art, food, celebrations, and more. We are excited to bring this enrichment program to Findley Oaks and look forward to "traveling" to other wonderful countries in the future. Thanks to our Findley Oaks PTO for helping to sponsor this learning experience through https://www.mycoolworldllc.com/.
Congratulations to our newly elected School Governance Council parent and teacher members. Amy Gambrel and Aaron Han will fill the vacant parent seats and 4th grade teacher, Karin Kraker, will fill the teacher seat.
Good luck to our Findley Oaks Science Olympiad Team as they head to the state competition at Kennesaw State University on Saturday, May 6!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. During this year’s Mental Health Month, Mental Health America invites you to Look Around and Look Within as we consider every part of our environment and its effect on our mental health and well-being. This opens the door to consider education, economic stability, social connections, neighborhood, community infrastructure, and access to care. What we know for sure is that there are many factors that contribute to mental well-being, and we all benefit from stable environments, strong communities, and ready access to needed services.
The Schedule for Milestones Testing is Set!
Testing will begin as soon as school begins each day. It is important that your child arrives to school on time!
- May 3 - ELA Section 1
- May 4 - ELA Section 2
- May 5 - ELA Section 3
- May 9 - Math Section 1
- May 10 - Math Section 2
- May 11 - Science Section 1 and 2 – 5th grade only
Teachers are working hard to prepare students and may provide at-home practice opportunities as well. These assignments are appropriate for all students as they are grade level standards-based and not specifically Milestones related. Below are some resources for your information about the test.
