Student Survey

All SMS students are asked to complete a short survey TODAY. We are looking for opinions on Immersion Math and EPIC. Thanks for taking the time to give us feedback! We appreciate your help. The survey may be taken one time on each iPad.

ISTEP+ Test 1 Wraps Up This Week

We're on the home stretch for the ISTEP+ test!

Next week will be time for the 8th grade to shine!

Music Performances

We've got a few great opportunities to see our musicians and vocalists perform! The 7th and 8th Grade Bands will be performing in the ISSMA Festival tonight at Parkview High School in Jeffersonville. The 7th grade goes on stage at 6:15 PM and 8th grade at 7:05 PM.


Good luck to the 7th and 8th Grade Choirs who will be performing at ISSMA's Large Group Contest on Saturday at Jeffersonville High School. The 7th grade will perform at 2pm and the 8th grade will perform at 2:45pm.


The Middle School Choirs will be performing in a Spring Concert on March 17th at McClain Hall at 7pm. The concert is free! Head over to SHS and support your friends in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade choirs. We hope to see you there!

Spring Break

SCSD2 will be on Spring Break from Monday, March 23rd to Friday, March 27th. Students will be able to take iPads home over break. The Responsible Technology Use Agreement will be enforced during break. School rules regarding iPad use will be in play 24/7 no matter where you spend your time! Enjoy your time off. School will resume on Monday, March 30th with an A schedule.

Anime Club to Hold Organizational Meeting

Are you an otaku, a weaboo, or simply a fan of the growing and multifaceted arts of the growing nerddom? If you love anime and are interested in meeting with peers with the same love, or are curious of the Japanese art and digital entertainment style, then you should consider joining our school's very own Anime Club, starting next week!


If you don't know what anime is, and would like to know, attend our first meeting! The club's first meeting will be informational; orientation about the club, possible activities that will take place, and basic info on anime will be available. The first meeting will take place at Tuesday, March 17th from 3-4 P.M. in the Media Center. Hope to see you there!

College Field Trips Next Week

SMS 7th graders are going to college next week! Cool Ray and Dream Team students will visit Hanover College and Ivy Tech-Madison and will learn about two different options for post-secondary training. Cool Rays will go on Tuesday, March 17th and Dream Team students will go on Wednesday, March 18th. Enjoy your trips and make sure you remember the name on the side of the bus! Represent! Thanks to Mrs. Naugle and the 7th grade teachers for arranging this great opportunity for our students.

Winter Awards Friday

SMS will recognize achievement in winter sports and several clubs in an assembly on Friday, March 20th at 1:30 PM in the west gym. The following groups will be honored: Cheerleading, Basketball, Wrestling, Swimming, Winter Guard, Archery, Yearbook, and Science Olympiad. Students will also be recognized for Academic Top 10% for the first semester and also for Character Counts. And of course someone will take a pie in the face! Parents are invited to attend and are asked to arrive on campus (office or gym door) by 1:20 PM.

Art and Talent Show April 10th

The SMS Art and Talent Show is set for Friday, April 10th. This is a huge celebration of the arts and it is a time for SMS students to shine! All SMS students are invited to participate in this year's show.


If you are interested in participating in the ART SHOW, sign up in the office and pick up an Art Show flyer. Ms. Owen is opening the art room for extra work sessions for those presenting at the show. Sign up today! If you have any questions, check with Ms. Owen.


If you can sing, dance, tell jokes, play an instrument, tumble, emcee, or have any other special talents, the TALENT SHOW is for you! Talent Show tryouts will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, March 17th and 18th. Pick one day and plan to stay after school until 4:00. If you are going to sing and are using background music, please try to use an instrumental/karaoke version. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Clapp or Mrs. Zeigenbein.

Boys and girls interested in joining the SMS Golf Team should sign up in the office by Thursday. Tryouts will be scheduled an announced soon.


YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN

The High School Drama Club is presenting You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown! tonight at 7 P.M. at McClain Hall on the SHS campus. Doors open at 6:30pm. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for students (K-12), and children not yet in school are free! Cookies and soft drinks will be available for purchase during intermission. Shout-outs and flowers will be available for purchase to send to your favorite performers!
