Happy Mother's Day!!!

Our Week of Learning...

MATH:
  • The students were assessed on fractions...they did a wonderful job! This week we began our study of geometry!

READING/SOCIAL STUDIES:

  • In our reading groups we began studying Chicago. Ask your learner to explain the elements of the Chicago flag....the meaning of the 3 white stripes, 2 blue stripes and the 4, six pointed, red stars.

GRAMMAR:

  • The students have been working on singular possessive nouns and plural possessive nouns. This can be a tricky concept! We have also covered compound sentences as well as linking verbs.

HANDWRITING:

  • The students have been working diligently on their cursive writing.

Skyping with Jeff Baron!

Prior to our author visit next week, author Jeff Baron wanted to Skype with us! It was super cool! He filled us in on what we would be doing next week during his visit. He also read to us a portion of his new book which hasn't yet been published! AWESOME! We are really looking forward to his visit!!

Permission Slips:

If you have not already completed the permission slip for our upcoming field trip please do so. Please return the permission slip with the $10.00 fee to me ASAP. Thank you.

Chaperones:

Thank you for your willingness to support our classroom and chaperone our Chicago field trip! We had 15 volunteers!! Unfortunately, each class can only take 5 parents. (I REALLY wish I could take everyone!) I placed the names in a basket and chose. You will be notified on Monday, either way, via your child's take home folder. I apologize for not being able to take everyone! Thank you for understanding.
