Exemplary Service Awards

Accepting Nominations

Awarded at the AT-TIES Together Conference April 24-26, 2023

RSOI and OTAP continue the time-honored tradition of pausing to recognize exemplary achievements in the provision of education-based therapy services and assistive technology leadership. The Judy Rowe and Michele Smith-Sullivan Awards are presented to OTs, PTs and their assistants. The 4th Annual Penny Reed Award will be presented for leadership in the provision of Assistive Technology. This year's awards will take place on Monday, April 24.

The Judy Rowe Exemplary Therapist Award

is named for an Oregon therapist who was known for her professional expertise and dedication. The award is presented in Judy's name to honor Oregon therapists who are nominated by their peers in education-based practice.

Michele Smith-Sullivan Award

is awarded to occupational and physical therapy assistants who excel in education-based therapy services. The award is presented in Michele's name to honor Oregon therapy assistants who are nominated by their peers in education-based practice.

Penny Reed Award

is presented to an Oregon leader in Assistive Technology whose vision helps brighten the future for the students of Oregon. The award honors Penny Reed, the author of the original OTAP grant more than 30 years. Penny's influence has roots in the past and wings for the present and future.

Please follow-up with a packet via mail or email. Include the following information:


  • Your name, address and phone number
  • Nominee's name, address and phone number
  • A written summary of the contributions made by the individual in the field of education-based therapy for children with disabilities
  • Letters of support from others who have experience with the nominee's contributions (e.g., coworkers, students or their families, supervisors, etc.)

Nominations are due in the RSOI/OTAP office no later than Friday, March 31, 2023
