Letter from Principal Nelson
Howdy!
Big ups to all who attended Back to School night and a HUGE thank you from all of us. We love getting the opportunity to meet with y’all and share our passion. In this day and age when technology is the default, and guardians have immediate access to the gradebook, teacher websites, and emails, there is still something to be said about some good old fashioned face-to-face. In my mind, nothing beats meeting and greeting one of the custodians of your students’ care in person. As long as the day is, and as unfortunately planned as it was being the day after a 3 day weekend, it is still a very essential component of the home and school partnership.
If you weren't able to attend, not to worry as we will begin holding parent our Learning Walks later in the month. Our first Learning Walk will be catered to our 6th grade parent/guardians and be on Wednesday, September 27th, at 8:30 am. More info to follow.
Thank you to all the parents and guardians who showed up for the Volunteer Meeting on Thursday! We had over 30 people express interest in assisting our office staff, help with our library, and even hang out in the cafeteria! This shows that you know how vital a role y’all play in ensuring our school runs as smoothly as possible. Any and all help offered will be gladly accepted and if you weren’t able to attend the meeting, we’d still love you here ably assisting.
To see how you can help out, please email bridget.brown@austinisd.org for more information.
Thanks again for making this week/month/year so exceptional.

Late Bus
Many of you have asked about the Late Bus. Here is how it works and a list of the stops it makes...
Only eligible bus riders can get on the late bus, BUT, they have to know which of the stops below they stop at. The last bus will leave at 5:15 and only stop at the following stops...
Note: Students must have a reason for taking the late bus, tutoring, athletics, clubs or activities. They can not just hang around unsupervised on campus, then jump on the bus. New this year, A student must have a late bus wristband to enter the bus. Ms. Ana will be monitoring the wristbands. Wristbands will be given to students by the teacher that has the student after school.
Great Thinkers Club
Do you geek out on knowledge? Follow your curiosity? Looking for support with LASA applications? All students who want to do more and dig deeper are invited to join the Great Thinkers Club. We will meet in Room 204 on Thursdays beginning September 7th! All Grades Welcome.
