The Oxford Update

Oxford Elementary School

What a Great Week!

We have had a great week at OES! While there were a few bumps in the road, there were more good things that happened than challenges. On more than one occasion this week, as I was helping students into their vehicles at parent pickup I heard them say things like, "It was an AWESOME day!" "I had the best day ever!" "I loved school today!" We love to see our students as excited to be back as we are to have them back.

As I stated, there were some challenges this week. One of the biggest challenges has been parent pickup and drop-off. We have an unusually high number of parents who are dropping off and picking up. This is causing traffic to be backed up and families to have to wait in a long pickup line. If you are waiting on the street to get into the parking lot during dismissal or arrival, please make sure you pull all the way over to the right shoulder of the road so that cars are still able to pass by you to keep traffic moving.

We hope everyone enjoys the holiday weekend and we will see everyone back on Tuesday, September 7th! Happy Labor Day!

Attendance Matters!

Attend Today ~ Achieve Tomorrow ~ Attendance Works

Did you know that missing just 18 days of school makes it harder to learn reading and math?

o Every day counts, every student matters.

o Our teachers will be teaching, and our students will be learning, right up until vacation starts and the first day back.

o Building a habit of good attendance is your child’s ticket to success in school and eventually on the job.

o As we prepare for a new school year, we want to express our gratitude to everyone who makes it possible for our students to come to school every day, on time, ready to learn.

o We look forward to seeing students arrive each day, and are eager to reward their excitement for learning with a fun educational experience.

Every day absent is a lost day of learning.
