Climb to Feed Kids

Jefferson staff participated again this year in the annual Climb to Feed Kids fundraiser held in Bresnan Arena on the MSU Mankato campus. This amazing community event raises tens of thousands of dollars every year to support the Backpack Food Program in area schools. The relay "race" has each team member going up and down every flight of stairs (768 total stairs), all the way around the arena. Teams collect donations in advance of the event, and numerous local businesses lend their support to this worthy cause. It's an exciting, albeit exhausting, day for all participants. This year Jefferson had two teams participate in the event. One team consisted of Jefferson staff members, and the other team sported an amazing group of PTO athletes. There was an incredible amount of "Jefferson spirit" throughout Bresnan Arena, evidenced in the picture gallery below.

The two Jefferson teams combined to raise over $2600 for the Backpack Food Program. To learn more about the Feeding Our Community Partners organization, click on the link below...

Golden Presentation

The KEYC News 12 & Bethany Lutheran College Golden Apple Awards recognize the people and programs that make a dramatic difference in education. January 24 was an exciting day at Jefferson because fifth grade teacher, Abby Turgeon, was presented with the most recent Golden Apple.

Golden Apple recipients are nominated by students who believe their teacher deserves special recognition.

January Jam

As you may recall from earlier newsletters, the first Friday of every month this school year features a new way for us to celebrate positive behavior choices at Jefferson. During each Jaguar Jam we recognize students who earned JAGS Spotlight awards the previous month, set a positive behavior focus for the coming month, and have a little fun, too. At our January "Jam" we recognized 27 JAGS Spotlight winners from the month of December, introduced this month's focus of "Respecting Differences", and watched some inspirational videos of kids overcoming challenges in their lives.
