The Bulldog Bark

Students and staff members signed a beam today that will be part of our school's construction project. Their names will forever be part of Timothy Ball Elementary School!
E-Learning Day on September 21st
An e-learning day is scheduled for students on Wednesday, September 21. Teachers and staff will be participating in professional development and in a safety exercise called ‘reunification’ to practice reuniting students with their parents/guardian in the event of an incident requiring evacuation from a school to another facility. Whatever the cause, if an event happens at a school or during a school event, the goal is to keep students and staff safe and then reunify each child with their parents/guardians in an efficient, accurate, and secure manner.
A Note about Grades
Elementary schools will join our middle and high schools in reporting grades at the end of each semester. Previously, elementary report cards were finalized each nine weeks. We are shifting to reporting at the end of each semester so that students have a longer time to demonstrate what they know and can do. Our focus is on mastery learning and supporting a growth mindset in our learners.
On Tuesday, October 11th, students and parents will be able to view in-progress grades in RDS.
This ‘in-progress snapshot’ is an update of where students currently stand at the end of the first 9 weeks.
Report card comments will not be made on the 9 weeks snapshot.
Grades from specials (art, music, PE) will not be reported until the end of the semester.
After viewing the in-progress snapshot, there will still be plenty of time to ask for help if needed, complete work, and bring grades up before the end of the semester when grades are finalized.
Please reach out to your child’s classroom teacher should you have any questions about their progress or to learn more about how you can partner with us to support your child’s academic development.
We look forward to welcoming you to Parent Teacher Conferences in late October. During Parent Teacher Conferences, we encourage a collaborative dialogue that highlights how your student is transitioning throughout the first semester. We look forward to addressing questions parents/caregivers have, sharing relevant information (engagement, strengths, NWEA, classwork, socialization, areas for growth), and establishing on-going means for communication
Employability Skills Survey
We thank you for being valued partners as we work together to educate our students.
While many people often think of student success in relation to grades or test scores, it is also important to consider the social and emotional growth of our students. Starting September 19th-Sept 26th , we will ask students in grades 3-12 for their feedback via a 20-30 minute online survey completed at school.
Please click the link below to view the entire letter from the CPCSC Department of Education about the purpose of this survey for students in grades 3-5.
