Family literacy challenge winners!

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Family Literacy Challenge throughout the month of November in honor of family literacy month. At an all school meeting on December 12th we recognized students who participated in the challenge and randomly selected five prize winners from all student submissions.

Congratulations to:

Cameron K., Josh S., Cadence, and Cooper who won $25 WalMart gift certificates.

We also want to congratulate our grand prize winner, Nicholas, who is probably still smiling ear to ear, over winning a $100 WalMart gift card!

Let it Snow... our winter concert was a big success!

Pleasant Street families completely filled the auditorium at Athol High School for our winter concert on December 10th. This all school concert opened with a short film produced with district students on audience etiquette, followed by the school band playing a selection as well as a solo flute performance. The choral performance included a lovely selection of seasonal songs sung by each grade and concluded with an all school performance of, Let it Snow, complete with decorative snow falling about the stage.

Fourth Annual Holiday Make & Take!

With children, their families, and our volunteers we had over 120 people come out for our 4th annual Make & Take Holiday Arts and Crafts night. Special thanks to our parent volunteers who lead craft activites- Becky Tower Hughes, Melinda Jack, Laurie Jennings, and Julie Hall as well as Pleasant Street faculty, Robyn Robertson and Rachel Schwab. Thanks to PTO members Laura Robinson and Sarah Smith who also contributed to the success of this event. We are expecially appreciative of Athol High School student volunteers, Paige Truehart, Megan Mahan, and others who helped run activites including Principal Ellis' crayon melting craft.

We are Readers! Celebrating Readers Workshop in Action

Pictured on left students from Mrs. St. Jean's third grade class working on their readers' response notebooks with teacher trainer, Tammy Mulligan. Students are learning text features, how to discern big ideas, supporting details, and record their thinking when reading various genres.

Lost and Waiting to be Found!

We have a collection of items in our Lost & Found. We encourage families to stop by the school and pick up lost items or have your children look for them before we break for the winter recess. All items left in lost and found will be given to a local charitable organization after Dec. 22, 2014.
