Snowy Mountains
The Australian Alps receive more snow than Switzerland. The tallest peak is found in New South Wales and is Mt. Koschiuszko and is 2,228 meters.
Great Barrier Reef
It's the biggest reef stretching 132,973 square miles. It is larger than the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and the Netherlands combined. You can even see the reef from space. It is half a million years old. You can swim out and mail your mail from here using a special Great Barrier Reef stamp.
Tasmania
Tasmania is an island south of Australia. It is known for having the cleanest air and the Tasmania devil.
Melbourne Cup
The Melbourne Cup is the world's most famous horse race where the riders race on grass not dirt.

It was originally home to a group of people called Aborigines. Scientists think that Aboriginal people have lived in Australia for more than 50,000 years. Now they only make up about 2% of Australia's population.
