Friday Notes

July Edition

What is Friday Notes?

During the school year, Friday Notes is the primary tool we use to communicate updates, reminders, and school news all in one spot. Friday Notes will be delivered to your inbox each Friday; we also post Friday Notes on our website under the Current Families tab, for your reference.

But It's Monday, Not Friday!

You are receiving this on a Monday because school isn't open on Fridays during summer vacation! We will send out an August Edition of Friday Notes - probably on another Monday - or maybe we will shake it up and send it on a Wednesday! Once school starts, you can count on Friday Notes living up to its name (most of the time)!

BJAMS Summer Hours

BJAMS is open Monday-Thursday from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. The building will be closed July 18-21 for floor refinishing.

Music is in the Air!

We are pleased to bring choral music back to BJAMS! This coming year, we are excited to have Mrs. Boucher teach PK3-Grade 3 and Mrs. Wright will teach Grades 4-8. We will continue to offer instrumental band for Grades 4-8, taught by Mrs. Boucher.

Construction Update!

Our renovation and construction project got underway on July 5 - and we are moving full-steam ahead! The multipurpose room will bring in so much more natural light and the outdoor eating area will be a nice treat on sunny days! And the brand-new kitchen will be a state-of-the-art space for meal preparation and storage! We are so excited for the finished product!

Child Care Financial Assistance Program

Starting July 3rd, families who did not previously qualify for child care financial assistance may now be eligible (see income guidelines chart below). A Vermont family of three making over $75,000 a year qualifies for child care financial assistance.

Uniform Swap

The school's Uniform Swap is an opportunity to pick up gently used uniform items for your student! You do not need to "swap" - though we will happily take outgrown uniform items off your hands if you have them (we just ask that the items are laundered and in good condition).

Our wonderful PTO sponsors these swaps and Anna Roberts (William, gr. 3) is the organizational point person for this event.

Please stop by the school on Sunday, August 14 from 10 am - 12 pm if you are in need of uniform items and/or you have items to contribute!

PK & K Meet & Greet

Do you have a student entering one of our PK or K classes? Please join us for a Meet and Greet on the playground on August 15 from 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Teachers, new and returning students, families, and administrators will be on hand to say hello and answer any questions! Please note: if it's raining, we will cancel the Meet and Greet.

Fall Soccer

We are excited to get our BJAMS Eagles back on the pitch! We are still firming up details, but w are able to share the following coaching info:

Grades 1/2 (co-ed): Coach Erica Silveira

Grades 3/4 (co-ed): We need a coach!

Grades 5/6 (co-ed): Coach Katie Marvin (looking for an assistant coach, too)

Grades 7/8 (co-ed): We need a coach!

Once we have coaching information solidified, we will have practice information to share. If you are interested in coaching, please reach out to Mr. Lafrenz! All volunteer coaches must complete VIRTUS training (annually) and be up-to-date with their fingerprints and have that info on file at the school.
