Using Design Thinking to rethink your schools movile learning program with John Nash
a. we started the session with a game; every one in the team built a tower: the highest the possible.
i. we brainstormed ideas on how to start, then we spilt the work, two folding the papers into some tubes, and two putting the tubes together into a tower
ii. we ended up having different designs of towers but all aimed at building it higher than the others.
iii. team work, job allocation and free flow of design
iv. inspiration: radical collaboration, rapid prototypong, competitive, great feedgack loop, design with constraints, existing materials used differently, natural leadership
b. In schools, it's mind sets, creativity, need that we are talking about. SHOW , NOT TELL. add EMPATHY
C. ways to deal with a plan: brainstorm, harvet, dot voting ( most popular), present the idea with visual_ protocol, walk in the shoes of the others
d. listen to the students, get the teacher to be the interviewer and students being interviewed on a topic
**** we can get teachers to prepare a topic in staff meeting and share using a prototype
**** we should include students in collecting views. Listen to them direct.
Sustaining students' attentive focus in the digital age
Judy Willis
Sustaining students' attentive focus in the digital age
1. very practical session: about how to get things work best when we can focus the attention through sesory information
2. prediction sustains attention as curiosity motivates the need to know

1. mission - minimum viable project- product you have in mind- what can you put together to test that out-remove any features which do not conjure to the product ( need a shave)- where's next- test
2. testing is by creating hypothesis, making prediction, test your prediction and adjut
3. build and pick up the right team, a passionate team, possible roles

4. adopt an inquiry based and problem solving approach, use a context which nurtures transferrable skills in constructivist learning
5. dont do things in the school which can be done at home, dont give too many instructions. Allow collaboration and creativity
6. ******the task should be a subset of content, pedagogical model, and media. ( Slide 9)
