The Air-Sea Connection
How are the oceans and the atmosphere connected?
Wonderful Air
Many components make up the air like nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, etc. Air is the mixture of gasses that surrounds us.The Coriolis Effect also has an important role. It affects the distribution of Earth's heat, nutrients, and many types of life by shaping the flow of wind currents. The four main layers of the atmosphere are: Thermosphere, Mesosphere, Stratosphere and the Tropsphere. When a warm, moisture-laden air mass collides with a cooler air mass causing precipitation. Rain and snow can also occur when warm when warm moist ocean air travels over comparatively cool land. An atmospheric circulation cells are six distinct air masses with individual air flows. Low pressure air masses form when atmospheric circulations of air move up and down. High pressure air masses form when cooler air is being moved up and down.
