Adjusting to 5 Days
Dear Catawba Ridge Families,
We're glad to have our A/B Day students back in the building together! Our purpose is to serve our students per our mission: "The mission of Catawba Ridge High School is to unleash the talent of each student to become college and career ready and reach the heights of their potential." The pandemic has presented so many challenges to carrying out this mission, and with the return to 5 days, our school now looks closer to what it did just over a year ago. With the return of most students, there have been some challenges. Here are some reminders/adjustments that we need to make moving forward:
With the return to 5 days a week, there is increased traffic throughout the school district. We gave grace for 3 days, notified parents (via email) & students (through announcements) that we would only hold the bell after Wednesday for accidents or weather related issues.
Please plan accordingly for the increase in traffic through earlier departures to school. While students are not able to head to classes until the 8:10 bell, the building is open starting at 7:30 for students who are dropped off earlier than 8:10.
A message about AM & PM car rider line procedures was sent via email to parents this week. To address backups on the Parkway, we plan to dual-stack the entry lanes and merge them into a single lane closer to the front of the school starting next week. Do not use the Staff, Student or Visitor Parking lots to wait for your students as dismissal. This causes students to cross traffic, which is dangerous.
Masks MUST be worn over the face and nose. We will continue to remind students, but request that you reinforce this message at home.
The change to 3 lunches and increased seating throughout several areas of the school has allowed for students to remain socially distant at lunch.
Please continue to stress the importance of Health Protocols and Social Distancing to your students. We want to do what we can to keep our students and staff safe and in school. Please refer to the FMSD COVID webpage for the latest information and protocols.
