Benchmarks

Benchmarks assessments provide "checkpoints of learning" for students and teachers. The benchmark is designed to assess the understanding of essential learning standards and provides data to teachers and students regarding progress towards those standards. The standards have been identified throughout the semester through lessons, activities, and classroom assessments.

Students will take district benchmarks Dec 11- 18. Teachers will contact you to let you know the details of when students will be assessed. If your child will not be at school on the day of a benchmark please notify the teacher and schedule a day to make-it-up.

Operation Africa

Our school's annual service project is to collect items for children who live in an orphanage in Zambia, Africa. A former Summit teacher, Meagan Hawley runs this orphanage.

Each classroom sponsors a child by collecting clothes, toys, school supplies and grooming items. As you are doing your holiday shopping, please purchase one or more items that can be included in our shipment to the orphanage. Items and donations will be collected until December 16th.

Please contact your child's 7th hour class and elective teacher for details or check the Friday folder for a flyer.

Incentive Field Trip

7th Grade celebrates student performance and behavior with incentives each semester. Teachers provided information regarding incentives to students and families at the beginning of the year.

Students are eligible for an Incentive at the end of this semester. The eligibility requirements are:

1-Final Grade in Classes A-B-C-D (No F's)

2-Good Behavior with no administrative consequences November 23-December 18

The incentive trip to celebrate the first semester has been postponed until January. The month of December is filled with elective and academic performances. We look forward to bowling January 11, 13, and 14th. Permission forms will be sent home and the cost is $7.00

Second Semester Schedules

Students will receive a copy of their second semester schedule upon their return January 4, in first hour. If students have Spanish or Literacy 1st hour they will report to the class they didn't have last semester. For example, if I had Spanish I will report to Literacy. All schedules are visible on infinite campus parent portal.

Have a great winter holiday!
