Principal's Letter
Dear Lake Windward Families,
As we are embarking on a new month of the year, I am hopeful that as a school community we are starting to turn the corner with the Covid-19 virus. During the month of January, many of our LWE families (both staff and students) have been impacted in one way or another by this illness. I appreciate your patience and partnership as we have been navigating the challenges of the pandemic. I can tell you that our students are continuing to learn and grow and are doing great things in their classrooms. It is always a joy to walk through classrooms and see the wonderful learning taking place.
I am grateful for our students' and staff's resiliency and commitment to learning and teaching at high levels even during challenging times! As always, it is an honor to serve as your school principal.
Warm regards,
Julie Morris
5th Graders Helping Clean Up!
Our LWE students are the best! Here's one example of why... Some students in Mrs. Ryberg's 5th grade class noticed that trash sometimes gets left on the playground and on the field in the back of the school. They decided, on their own, to form a "club" to help clean up during their recess time. Wearing plastic gloves, the following students voluntarily spend some of their recess minutes cleaning up our campus! Thank you Tomas, Griffin, Cooper, and Sabrina for seeing a need, developing a plan, and putting the plan into action to help beautify our campus and help out our custodial staff! Way to model leadership and volunteerism!
Carpool Information & Reminders
The following bulleted list was sent out to families before the start of the school year when we mailed carpool numbers to LWE families. It has come to my attention that we need to share these protocols and procedures with parents again due to some recent safety concerns during carpool drop-off and pick-up. Please take a few minutes to review these procedures if you participate in morning or afternoon carpool. Thank you!
Student & Parent Surveys
Students in grades 3-5 will have the opportunity to participate in the Georgia Student Health Survey as in years past. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you do not want your child to participate.
