Food Review - Around Town
Ever curious about where some of the best places to grab a bite in Roxbury are? Well, here are some places that I consider to be the best places in Roxbury to go and eat!
Roxbury Diner
Hands down, this has to be my favorite restaurant in Roxbury. My favorite things to get here for breakfast are pancakes and belgian waffles. For lunch and dinner I like to get a burger.
Panera Bread
Want to go to a place with some of the best hot food in Roxbury? That’s where Panera Bread comes in handy! I love Panera’s soups, I especially recommend them in a bread bowl. Also, their Mac N’ Cheese is the most amazing thing ever.
Fuddruckers
One of the best places I like to go to with my friends. You can get a really good burger or salad here. They also have an arcade that is really fun!
Roxbury Bagels
- My favorite place to get bagels for breakfast in this town! I love their flagels, which is a flat bagel, and their cream cheese is amazing!
DIY Pumpkin Spice Latte
To every person that is looking forward to having a sip of a pumpkin spice latte this fall, don’t worry about going to Starbucks. You can just make one at home following these steps!
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons canned pumpkin
½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice (you’ll need some more in the end to top your latte with)
Freshly ground black pepper
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons pure vanilla extract
2 cups whole milk
1-2 shots of espresso, (around ¼ cup)
¼ cup heavy cream, whipped until firm peaks point
Equipment:
Mixer, whisk, or hand blender (to whip cream)
Saucepan
Wooden spoon
Whisk
Blender
Espresso or coffee maker
Instructions:
In a small saucepan over medium heat, cook the canned pumpkin with the pumpkin pie spice and a generous amount of black pepper for 2 minutes, or until this is hot and smells cooked. Stir constantly.
Add the sugar and stir until the mixture looks like a bubbly, thick syrup.
Whisk in the milk and the vanilla extract. Warm gently over medium heat, watching carefully to make sure it doesn’t boil over.
Carefully process the milk mixture with a hand blender or in a traditional blender (hold the lid down tightly with a thick wad of towels) until frothy and blended.
Make the espresso or coffee and divide between two mugs and add the frothed milk. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, and nutmeg if you want.
