Principal's Message
Dear LaSalle II Families-
Educating Chicago’s children is a team effort. It requires regular collaboration, and a transparent relationship among teachers, administrators, and families. In that spirit, we are asking for your partnership in shaping the academic calendar for the 2022-23 school year. For the first time ever, CPS families are being invited to share what you would like next year’s school calendar to look like. Two calendar options have been created using input from our principals, and this survey will give you the opportunity to indicate which would best meet the needs of your family.
Here is what is the same about both calendars:
- A 2022-23 school year that begins BEFORE Labor Day.
- 176 days of instruction for students
- 12 professional learning days for teachers and school-based staff
- 1 parent-teacher conference day for both HS and ES students in the fall of 2022 and 1 for both HS and ES students the spring of 2023 instead of separate days for HS and ES students in both the fall and spring
- 2 weeks of winter vacation and 1 week of spring vacation
- No student instruction during the entire week of Thanksgiving
Calendar Option #1: This calendar largely mirrors what is being used in CPS this school year. Highlights include:
- A school start date of Monday, August 29, 2022 and an end date of Wednesday, June 14, 2023
- Students complete their first semester after Winter Break in January 2023 (same schedule as our current school year)
- A more equal distribution of days and weeks across the 4 academic quarters
Calendar Option #2: This calendar aligns more closely with the academic calendars of suburban school districts and local colleges and universities. Highlights include:
- A school start date of Monday, August 22, 2022 and an end date of Wednesday, June 7, 2023
- Students complete their first semester prior to Winter Break on Friday, December 22, 2022
- A less even distribution of instructional days and weeks across the 4 quarters of the school year, due to the completion of the first semester prior to Winter Break
Please complete this survey to share which of the above options your family would prefer for the 2022-23 school year. The survey is open now and will close on Friday, February 18 at 5 p.m. Feedback from the survey will be collected and evaluated by the District, and a final recommendation will be made to the Chicago Board of Education at their March 23, 2022 meeting. Final details on the approved academic calendar will then be shared with families.
The new academic calendar will set the tone for the 2022-23 school year, so it is vital that our families play an active role in shaping it. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey before February 18 so that your voice can be included in this critically important decision.

We are asking for your financial support to help cover the costs of parking and meals the family is incurring as a result of the accident. Please consider making a donation--even a small amount will go far. You can donate via Zelle using the email address treasurer@lasalle2pto.com. In the memo, please type 'student support'.

L2 Vaccine Clinic- 2/25
We will be holding another Covid-19 vaccine clinic next week at LaSalle II on February 25th. We will also have Pfizer and Moderna booster shots available for those 12+ that are eligible.
If you are interested, sign-up below for an appointment time. For this event, parents can give consent to have their child vaccinated without a guardian present. We will send all paperwork to you after you sign-up. There is no co-pay and the vaccine is free to anyone regardless of insurance.
L2 Covid Updates
This week we had ZERO positive cases identified through school-based testing and we had 1 positive staff case reported from outside of school-based testing. No classes were quarantined this week.
Parent, Guardian, and Teacher Google Email Group
It has come to the attention of the PTO that contact information for new families has not been added to our school's Google Email Group for the last few years. The PTO will be adding emails from our school's directory to fix this issue. If you are not on the school's Directory list and you want your email added to our Parent, Guardian, and Teacher Email Group please contact Ashley Ganbold at kinash23@gmail.com to be added to the Group.
This Email Group is available for all Parents, Guardians and Teachers to use. It is one of the primary ways we communicate to send invitations to upcoming functions, share important information, and much more. To ensure receipt of these emails please add lasalleiiparents@googlegroups.com to your approved senders list.
If you are added to the Group and wish to be removed, simply click the unsubscribe button found on the footnotes of any email from lasalleiiparents@googlegroups.com.

LSC Elections- Applicants Needed!
CPS Covid Self-Report Form
If your child is a close contact to a positive case, please contact administration with a copy of the positive test. This is required in order for your child to receive remote learning.
Student Covid Testing
If you are interested in having your child participate in testing, please follow the link below and complete the registration process. A parent or guardian must register any minor under 18 years old, and you’ll give a one-time consent and HIPAA authorization to share your child’s results with the school and district.
Testing is optional for students, except for unvaccinated and partially vaccinated student athletes. Testing will take place during regular school hours and results will be available in 24 to 48 hours. Color Health will follow up with you directly if the pool in which your child participated has a positive result.
We strongly encourage all students, especially those who are unvaccinated, to participate in testing.
Vaccination Records
In the event of an exposure to a positive COVID-19 case at the school, vaccinated individuals will not be quarantined if they are asymptomatic. In order to avoid your child being flipped to remote while the CPS contact tracing investigates the case, we strongly recommend that you submit a copy of the vaccination records. The records will be added to your child's school health file and will help to expedite the contact tracing process. To submit a copy of your child’s vaccination card, please submit to our school nurse Joanna Saa at jsaa1@cps.edu. You can send a hard copy to school with your child if you prefer. They should give it to their homeroom teacher who will give it to the main office where the school nurse will enter the form into Aspen.
