Device Insurance (Highly Recommended)
Utica Community Schools is proud to deliver 1:1 technology to our students. Depending upon the grade level, your child has been issued either an iPad or a Dell laptop including charging cords and any applicable accessories. Your child is responsible for the device and charger at all times.
The cost of device insurance has increased from $15.00 to $17.50 per student. The Payschools website has changed to Payschools Central. (See below)
In order to purchase the device insurance parents will need their child(ren) student ID number (which can be found on the report card) and create a NEW Payschools Central account. The directions for creating an account can be found at: https://www.uticak12.org/domain/85
Please note that the final date to enroll in the optional device insurance plan is Friday, September 8th.
Important Note About PaySchools for the 2023-24 School year
PaySchools has improved its platform this year to provide a system that is consistently more reliable and user friendly. The end result for parents will be that the information they need will be personalized for their child.
As a result, families will be asked to recreate an account (even if you previously had a PaySchools account). Once created, you will be provided with those product choices that directly relate to your child.
Just follow these easy steps:
- Create an account from your computer or tablet at: www.payschoolscentral.com
- Complete the account registration by selecting register, enter your profile details, setting up your password via the email link that will be sent to you, then logging in.
- Add your children to your account using their student ID numbers. ID numbers are found on their report card available through PowerSchool.
- If you like, enter credit card and/or banking information as forms of payments to use with your PaySchools account.
A complete guide (with screen shots) is available at this link.

Arrival and Dismissal
Students will line up outside of their classroom/designated area on the play pad. We will bring the students in when the bell rings at 8:25. If you arrive late and see that students have already gone in, please come to the main front door.
Switzer designated areas:
- young 5's and all kindergarten: Main Front doors
- 1st grade: Classroom doors by southeast corner by dumpsters
- 3rd grade: Side playground by the dumpsters
- 2nd grade : Side playground entrance by Shelby Road.
- Grades 4-6: Classroom Doors in the back of the building.
- Parents may walk their student to their exterior classroom door on the first day August 29. It is also a good idea to set a meeting spot out front in case you are delayed in the future. (A bench or tree)
- Due to security protocol we ask that parents remain outside. If you need to come in the building, please come to the main entrance. Thank you for your support.
After the first day of school, we ask that parents say hello/goodbye at the fence. Staff will be outside directing students on where to line up. We will also help guide students to and from their bus.
At the end of the day, students will be dismissed directly from their designated areas. Students who will be using UCS transportation will be supervised as they walk to their bus.
School lunches are free this year
Bagel Orders Due September 8
SWITZER ELEMENTARY Drop Off Lane Procedure
For the safety of all Switzer students please follow our drop off procedure.
The drop off lane, designated in blue on the map (below), is intended for unassisted, curbside drop off. Vehicles should enter the parking lot and proceed to the ‘Welcome’ area. Students should quickly exit the vehicle. Students must exit out the passenger side/curbside only. Vehicles should pull forward and exit the parking lot. Arriving vehicles should continue to pull forward, allowing students to exit the vehicle in the ‘Welcome’ area.
Students that need assistance, parents should park in a parking spot as opposed to using the drop off lane. The student should be walked to the crosswalk by a parent.
TO KEEP OUR STUDENTS SAFE:
* Only drop off students in the designated area.
* Do not park or wait in the drop off ‘Welcome’ area at any time.
* Stay in the drop off lane and move forward in an organized manner.
* Do not drop off or park in any areas indicated with the red circle/car symbol. Occupying these areas will potentially stop the flow of the drop off lane traffic.
* Accompany students to the crosswalk if parking;
do not let students walk through the parking lot alone.
