Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week Is This Week!

This week is Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week! Thank you to the PTO, Board of Education, and others who have planned special things for our amazing staff! And thank you to our staff for all of your hard work and dedication to helping our students reach their individual potential!

I think too often in our very, very busy lives, we don't take the time to appreciate and thank people for the good work that they are doing. I know I find myself falling into this trap sometimes. We tend to only speak up and say something when something isn't to our satisfaction. However, I think it is even more important to show appreciation and gratitude towards others who help make our experience wonderful or the experience for our kids unforgettable.

This is where you and your kids come in. If they are having a positive year or have that special teacher or staff member whom they can go to, sit down with your child and help them write a note to that staff member letting him/her know why they are special. It really won't take long, but it will go a long way in a profession that tends to hear more concerns and complaints rather than kudos and praise.

Finally, as the parent, please consider sending a nice note or email to the staff members who continue to make a positive difference in the lives of your children. Short and sweet gets the point across and will bring a smile to our teachers' faces. All Staff Email Addresses

Thank you!

MAP Testing Schedules, May 7 and 8

Below are the schedules for the MAP testing days, May 7 and 8.
Big picture

Student Dress Reminder

As we are approaching the warmer weather, we are reminding the students that they need to dress appropriately for school. It is important that shorts/skirts are a modest and appropriate length for school and shirts cover students' bodies appropriately and don't contain any references to drugs or alcohol. We appreciate your help and support with this matter.

Tiger Tipline

While it is always best to talk directly to a staff member, we understand that sometimes this can be uncomfortable or difficult for students or parents. At Pleasantdale Middle School, we offer the Tiger Tipline as an anonymous tool for reporting unsafe, uncomfortable, or unkind behaviors and situations. We explicitly teach the students that if they ever see something or hear something that makes them feel unsafe, uncomfortable, or is unkind, either online or in person, they should tell a “trusted adult” which could be parents, school personnel, or other adults in their lives. The Tiger Tipline can be accessed here and we will post the link in Schoology and create a shortcut to the link on the student devices for easy access.

Dates for the Year

If you are like me, you want to know the dates for the year as far in advance as possible. As long as you understand that something may change due to unforeseen circumstances, I’d like to provide you access to the dates we’ve planned for the year (many of which are in the paper calendar you received in the mail). To access the middle school calendar dates, please click here.
