Rick Smith Magic Give Back at MHS
A Note from the Principal
Catholic Schools Week 2023 has been filled with faith, family, and fun starting off with Mass, Open House, and the return of the Athletic Association Pancake Breakfast on Sunday. The week has been filled with activities, including the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Contest, a huge three screens assembly, student and teacher raffles, Buddy Bingo as a school, making cards for our deployed troops, our Blessing Bags service project, and more.
Online registration/enrollment is due TOMORROW, FEBRUARY 3. I kindly ask you to complete the online registration form and submit the registration fee tomorrow. If your family is not planning to return, please make the school office aware of your decision. It is imperative that we have enrollment numbers so that we can plan accordingly for staffing for next school year. I sincerely appreciate all of the families who have submitted their registrations and fees.
There was a great response when we opened registration to outside families for preschool. If you have a child who you want to enroll in our preschool program, you must submit the online registration AND fee TOMORROW or you will lose your spot. Right now, two of our five classes have waiting lists. We are excited to have so many families who are eager to join our preschool.
Finally, we are a little over a week away from our Magic Gives Back fundraising event! Purchase your tickets NOW and enjoy an evening of great entertainment with our SPB family! Tickets will NOT be sold at the door so order now. Refer to the information below. I hope to see you there!

Join the ranks of Paschal Proud altar servers by seeing the video online and participating in the training Mondays, February 6, 13, 27 & March 6. Installation of new servers will be Sunday, March 19 at the 8:30 Mass or when it is convenient for your family to participate in the liturgy of installation. Playground Volunteers Needed-Kindergarten to Grade 3
We are asking that each family (mom, dad, grandma, etc.) choose at least two days to volunteer each time slot being 11:10 am-12:55 pm. There are many, many time slots open! We are so grateful for the help!
Grade 3 families are asked to volunteer in February, Grade 2 in March, Grade 1 in April, Kindergarten and anyone who would like to help in May/June.
This is a great way for you to interact with your child and his/her classmates during the school day! Recess Volunteers should arrive to school at 11:10 and check in at the office. Duties will include supervising students at recess, escorting the students to and from the school doors. Volunteers will be with one school staff member each day to help direct.
Remember that after your two volunteer time slots, you are done for the year, as each month is assigned to a different grade.
Thank you again for your time and service to the students and teachers of SPB! Simply click on the following links to sign up: Grade 3, Grade 2, Grade 1, Kindergarten

A Message from Bishop Malesic
Bishop Edward Malesic has issued the following statement regarding numerous requests for dispensation from obligation to abstain from eating meat on St. Patrick’s Day, which falls on a Friday in Lent this year.
“Throughout the season of Lent we are invited to participate in the opportunity for prayer, fasting and almsgiving in order to deepen are awareness and better appreciate the ultimate sacrifice Jesus made for us on Good Friday. This year, St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Friday in Lent, and several have inquired about the possibility of a dispensation from the obligation to abstain from eating meat on Fridays in Lent.
After prayerful consideration, I am granting this dispensation from the obligation to abstain from meat for those who feel it absolutely necessary to be dispensed in order to celebrate the Feast of St. Patrick. I ask that those who exercise this dispensation and eat meat on the Feast of St. Patrick to select another non-Friday day during Lent to abstain from eating meat or to make some offering on behalf of the poor, whether by prayer, fasting or almsgiving. Be assured of my prayers for all the faithful who continue to strive to imitate the joy of the saints and follow their example with the same seriousness and commitment with which they practiced their faith.
May God bless you and those you love.”
Bishop Edward C. Malesic
