Spring Break April 6-10

A Message from Principal Cockerill

As we finish up our second week of distance learning, it has been great to see students re-connecting with their teachers and classmates through online meetings. Other students are staying engaged in their learning using packets at home. Whatever method you are using, please remember that school is not over! Learning isn't stopping, it is just taking place remotely. This is temporary, but necessary, for the safety and health of our students, staff, and community.

Next week is Spring Break! We will be continuing to serve meals, but the schedule will be a little different. More information is provided below.

This afternoon an Aeries message was sent out to families regarding the extension of distance learning through May 1. Beginning April 27, teachers will be continuing with grade level and subject matter content as if they were back in their classrooms. We have been preparing students for this by providing the supplemental learning. At home, you can prepare for this by helping your child develop a scheduled time to work. Teachers will be providing updated schedules for instruction after Spring Break.

Finally, please help to keep Plumas County healthy. Use social distancing protocols and remind your children to do so as well. We want all of our students and families to work together so that we can get back to our school sites as soon as possible.

Have a restful and safe Spring Break!

Here to Help

Need to talk? We understand that this can be a challenging time for all of our Greenville students and families. If you want someone to talk to Ms. Mongiello, our Assistant Principal of Student Supports, is here for you. You can reach out if you’re struggling or just need someone to talk to. Please email her at emongiello@pcoe.k12.ca.us. She will work with you to set up a time to talk either by phone, email, Zoom, or Google Hangout. Please feel free to reach out.

Here are some other options for support-

California has a peer run warm line-phone and web based chat options. They have a policy that you can access it every 4 hours if needed. It does not have to be an emergency to talk to someone. Phone number is: 1-855-845-7415 and webchat can be found at www.mentalhealthsf.org.

If it is an emergency you can always contact the National Suicide Prevention Hotline by calling 1-800-273-8255 or texting HOME to 741741.

Google Calendar, Gmail, and Classroom, Oh My!

The focus of the 1:1 Laptop/Chromebook Program in PUSD is to prepare students for their futures in a world of digital technology and information. Every student has a gmail account. Our students are very familiar with this and use it to log into their devices. During this time of distance learning, students should be checking their google calendars, gmail (email), and google classroom DAILY. These are the primary ways that some teachers are communicating with students, sending, and collecting online work. It's very simple--just have your child log into his/her account and click on the icons like those pictured above.

If you have any questions or need support, please e-mail Jennifer Martin at jmartin@pcoe.k12.ca.us or Tanya Timmins at ttimmins@pcoe.k12.ca.us.
