All Juniors will take the SAT on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at The Charles School. Students do not need to sign up or pay for the test. TCS has already taken care of it. Testing will start at 7:45AM. We ask that students arrive no later than 7:40AM. Late arrivals may be unable to test. A letter was sent home this week with more information. 9th, 10th and 12th graders will have normal classes.

It is essential for every family to complete the Free/Reduced Lunch application every year. This information directly effects school funding and resources.

At our January Panther Table Talks meeting, we discussed how connected executive functioning skills are; we are using these skills every day at home, school, work, etc. Some people even have routines in place that support their executive functioning. For resources to support you with your executive functioning, be sure to check out the Panther Table Talks website.

Students in Web Design have been fine tuning Fonts, Colors, and html commands. They've been working really hard at debugging websites. They are building a community of experts in the Web Design field. They are working on our sign shop to continually offer the best signs around.

Students in Information Technology kicked off the Olympics with a curling event. Each student programmed the sphero to angle just right over the boards in order to score the maximum points. They are working on networking and learning about cable types, network topologies, and authentication procedures.

Programming has been tasked with making lots of decisions. Boolean decisions!!! They're learning the importance of the and && or || and not ! operators. We're practicing clean code for decision making. If your student is in programming, ask them about the Boolean game. It teaches students about the decision making in computer science.

The Charles School at Ohio Dominican University is proud to be a member of the Ohio Early College Association. Representatives from each of the 13 Ohio Early College High Schools meet monthly to share best practices and resources, plan occasional group initiatives, and celebrate our work.

The Charles School at Ohio Dominican University has been a member of Middle College National Consortium (MCNC) since 2007. MCNC is a national organization dedicated to increasing the number of high school students across the country who have access to college classes with an integrated support system that positions students for success. Member schools develop and sustain a successful model of collaborative education that expands student's future opportunities.

Our partnership with EL Education empowers our teachers to unleash the potential of their students. EL Education is built on ten design principles that reflect the educational values and beliefs of Kurt Hahn, founder of Outward Bound and co-founder of EL Education. These principles also reflect the design's connection to other related thinking about teaching, learning , and the culture of schools.

TCS@ODU is a School-wide Title 1 program, enabling us to receive Federal Funds to ensure that our students receive the support they need to reach and exceed grade level goals in reading and math. Per House Bill 21 community schools are required to perform a monthly review of student files and randomly select families for residency verification. Please contact the school immediately in case of an address change. Proof of residency must be submitted within two weeks of an address change. If evidence is not provided, requests for additional documentation or a home visit may occur.
