China's History with Gunpowder (火药)
In China, gunpowder was invented in the 9th Century(during the 800's)in the Tang Dynasty. In Chinese gunpowder is 火药 (huoyao).
Reasoning
Gunpowder was supposed to be use for guns in the 9th Century as a means to protect China during the War
Gunpowder Uses
In the 9th Century until now, China has used gunpowder for many different things. One of the biggest things that uses gunpowder are firecrackers and rockets. Although, earlier in the 9th Century gunpowder was used for matchlock firearms, which are pretty much 9th Century guns for the Chinese.
Matchlock Guns
These matchlock guns were used from the 14th to the 17th Centuries.
Firecrackers
Firecrackers are mainly used for the Chinese New Year celebration. This happens every year for 15 days at the beginning of the Chinese calendar.
Rockets
This hand cannon uses a type of rocket. Hand cannons were used during the Yuan Dynasty in the 14th Century.
Gunpowder has no only been used in China. Gunpowder spread all throughout the world. Even to this day we use gunpowder for many different reasons.
Different Types of Gunpowder
Gunpowder was known to have sulfur, charcoal, and potassium nitrate. Although, one can simply replace or remove some of the elements to get a different type or grade of gunpowder. This can sometimes result in weaker or stronger gunpowder.
