Beginning of the Year Notes
Welcome back to another wonderful year of GATES!! I am so glad to be back at school with all of your kiddos. I have missed them terribly!
I have two main goals for our GATES classes this year:
· Teach each student to hold themselves accountable to high expectations in all aspects of their lives.
· Continue to deepen every child’s intellectual abilities through critical and creative thinking activities while building life-long skills, such as the ability to communicate with others, work collaboratively and present ideas.
I hope to guide these students in stretching their thinking, extending their learning, and finding avenues to success. Identified students will participate in GATES during the school day on their corresponding day as follows:
1st grade: Mondays & Thursdays 60 minutes a week
2nd grade: Mondays & Tuesdays 90 minutes a week
3rd grade: Wednesdays & Thursdays 120 minutes a week
4th grade: Mondays, Tuesdays, & Wednesdays 150 minutes a week
5th grade: Mondays, Tuesdays, & Wednesdays 150 minutes a week
Students will be exploring such learning and thinking skills as questioning, researching, and problem solving. We will also practice creative thinking and presenting ideas and products.
Thank you for allowing me to work with your child. Please feel free to contact me at any time ~ I am here to serve your child and your family. I have the best job in the entire world!! I look forward to all that we will experience and learn this year.
