Foldable Activity: Understanding the Four Quadrants
- Reflect on what is happening with levels of thinking and relevance for students as you move along the continuum for BOTH the Knowledge Taxonomy and the Application Model
- What are students doing at the Acquisition (A), Application (B), Assimilation (C), and Adaptation (D) levels? In other words, what is the basic description of they type of learning that occurs in each Quadrant?
- What are some ideal instructional strategies for each of the four Quadrants?
- What are typical verbs associated with each Quadrant?
- What are some examples of teacher question stems by Quadrant?
Bump It Up Practice
For example:
Level 1 (knowledge/awareness) Label foods by nutritional groups
Level 2 (comprehension) Explain nutritional value of individual foods
Level 3 (application) Make use of nutrition guidelines in planning meals
Level 4 (analysis) Examine success in achieving nutrition goals

Complete a worksheet on solving area of rectangles with a spiral reviewing using the four operations with money.
Your parents have given you permission to make over your bedroom. You have a budget of $1,000.00. Measure the area of your bedroom and calculate the cost of carpet at $2.00 per square foot. Target has the bedspread and all of the accessories that you want on sale for a total of $225. Paint will be approximately $25 to cover an area of wall space equal to 5o square feet. You want to paint your two largest wall spaces. Based on your bedroom, will you have enough with in the budget of $1,000.oo to complete the updates? Draw your room to scale and show all of your work in determining your thinking.
