GO COYOTES !!!!!

STANDOUT COYOTES

Combs Ag Science department was awarded an SRP grant of $5,000 this year to design and build portable hog, sheep, and goat pens. Students will utilize math, problem solving skills, critical thinking skills, and welding procedures to build portable pens that can travel to different competitions and to the county fair. This project will help students understand geometric shapes, hone welding skills, and provide light weight portable pens for a variety of animals. This project will be utilized by the Combs High School Ag Science program and will be instrumental in developing critical thinking skills for students. These skills are listed as one of the top 3 most desired skills by employers today.

COUNSELORS CORNER

Our awesome Coyotes continue to amaze us with their hard work...not only with their state tests, but as we wind down to the end of the year. We love to see this effort, especially as we prepare for our AZMerit Math tests this coming week. Advanced Placement tests will be administered in May, and pre-administration was completed this week so that students can concentrate on preparing for their tests. Though the early registration date for the May 4 SAT has passed, students still have time to sign up if they pay the late fee. Go to www.collegeboard.org to register.

Thursday, April 18 will be the next parent university at the Middle School Library at 6:00pm. The topic is "Human Trafficking: Protecting Your Teens" and there will be some great information for parents and community members. We are also looking forward to Awards Night on May 2. Watch for more information.

Attention parents of seniors. If your son or daughter has been offered any scholarships, we want to know about them, even if they aren't going to accept them. If your child is ACCEPTING any scholarships, we want to invite you to awards night. Counselors went into the Senior English classes this week and distributed forms to all the students. Scholarship recipients need to complete the form and attach proof of the offer (award letter, etc.) and return to the counseling office no later than April 18 so we can include them in our program. If your son or daughter misplaced the form, extras are available in room 538.
