Class Wide Spelling Bee - Tuesday, Novemeber 17, 2015

The class wide spelling bee is quickly approaching and I'm extremely excited! Students were provided with a paper copy of the spelling bee list in class last Monday (11/3/15). Every student is REQUIRED to participate in the class wide spelling bee. Participation will count as a test grade; As long as students demonstrate effort during the class spelling bee, this should be an easy 100 as a test grade. The top two students from each class period, will progress to the school wide spelling bee, which will be held 12/8/15. We will have a short, 20 question quiz over the spelling bee words on Friday (11/13/15). If your student needs another copy of the spelling bee list, please let me know and I will ensure that they receive another copy. Unfortunately, due to copyright laws and the fact that this is a national spelling bee, I cannot email or post the spelling bee list online.

Scholastic Book Fair - November 13 through November 18, 2015

The Scholastic book fair will be in our school library next from November 13 - November 18, 2015! This is a great opportunity to encourage students to get excited about reading and to enlarge your at home library. As a class, we will visit the library at least once next so that students can take their time selecting novels and other items that interest them. Readworks.org is a great resource that is similar to the format that I use for testing. Portions of the STAAR test also mirror the reading passages on Readworks.org.
