One City, One Book- Hidden Figures EVENT
- The Greensboro Public Library and community partners will host Margot Lee Shetterly at noon on Thursday, September 28 at GTCC Koury Auditorium, 601 E Main St, Jamestown and 7 pm at Dana Auditorium on the Guilford College Campus. Both events are free and open to the public.
- Shetterly is the author of the New York Times bestselling book and inspiration for the blockbuster movie, Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race. The book was selected as this year’s One City, One Book title and is the basis for a variety of programs at the Library and throughout the community this fall.

Greater Greensboro Reading Council Welcomes New Members
Teachers & School Library Media Coordinators (SLMC) are invited to join the Greater Greensboro Reading Council. The council provides six opportunities during the school year for members to learn tips and strategies to help students become more literate and to fall in love with reading. Those who attend six out of seven meetings will earn one CEU credit. For more information, click here or email Angela Mayberry at maybera@gcsnc.com.

MTAC Committee Members DUE October 31
At the local school level, the principal, as the instructional leader, shall designate a Media Advisory Committee to include :
The principal or designee
The media specialist (will chair the committee)
Technology Facilitator if avaliable
Teacher representatives from all program areas or grade levels
Parent representation
It may include student representation at elementary and middle levels
It shall include student representation at the high school level
Duties:
- Meets no fewer than 3 times a year
- Evaluates available resources
- Assess curriculum needs
- Consider networking arrangements
- Consult reputable, professionally prepared resources for selection
- Examine actual resource when possible
