Junior High Updates
Spring Break certainly had a different feel this year. I hope that this newsletter finds our Comet Family healthy and well. Even though traditional schooling has been suspended for the remainder of the school year, Coloma Junior High has been working diligently to develop a remote learning plan to insure our students are able to successfully complete the 2019-20 school year.
This week the Junior High will provide details of how you and your child will access assignments and contact their teachers through both Google Classroom and Google Meet. If your family does not have internet access and may need to complete work via paper packets, please complete the form linked here.
During the week of April 13th we will be turning back on Power School for both parents and students. Our teachers will be working with students to finalize our 3rd Marking Period this week. 3rd Marking Period will officially end on April 17th. Please review Power School with your child to insure that any missing assignments are turned in prior to the 17th. Teachers will be available to provide assistance via e-mail if needed.
Starting on April 20th, you can expect that your child will receive assignments for all of the classes that they were enrolled in as of March 13th. We will provide links to all Google Classrooms via our weekly newsletter and our webpage beginning on Sunday, April 19th. Students already have their Google Classrooms loaded onto their Chromebooks. Remote learning and our 4th Marking Period will begin on April 20th.
Parents can expect that students will have 2 assignments per class per week for a total of 12, that will take approximately 30 minutes per assignment. This amount of time is in line with the recommendation from several other states for students in grades 6-8. Teachers will be holding weekly office hours to assist students and will also be available via e-mail between the hours of 8:00 - 3:00pm.
We will continue to provide additional information regarding the remote learning plan throughout the week. Stay Tuned.
Additional Reminders
- Building offices are now closed, if you require assistance please contact the Administration office at 269-468-2424 and leave a message. They will be handling all requests via appointment.
- Meals will continue to be delivered on Mondays and Thursdays on a delayed start bus route as well as in the parking lot of Coloma Intermediate.
