STAAR Destroyers!!! 4th and 5th Graders Gear up to Smash the STAAR Assessment
While there is still a good chunk of quality education left in the 2016/2017 school year, Batesville's 4th and 5th graders are set to show the state how much they have grown in their academic ability in Math, Writing, and Reading. Teachers, students, and parents have all worked very hard and dedicated an incredible amount of time to learning. I know that the students are going to show how that hard work pays off in academic progress.
Dodgeball Games as PBIS Incentive
All students in PK-6th grades have an opportunity to earn their way to some fun time Friday afternoons. Ms. Lalli Lopez, Ms. Simpson and a host of other team members have set up a dodge ball tournament to encourage students to continue to show their Bobcat pride by being on their best behavior each week. Every new Monday means a new opportunity to qualify. In addition, students also earn their carnival tickets for the campus end of year carnival.
Batesville Joins Texas Reads one Book w/ Coach Garrett
Students from the Center Point, Poteet, Somerset and Uvalde school districts will join students and their families across the state in kicking off a celebration of literacy called Texas Reads One Book on April 3. Students will simultaneously watch a videotaped reading of the first chapter of The Lemonade War by Dallas Cowboys Head Coach Jason Garrett.
For the third straight year, Coach Garrett will launch the statewide Texas ReadsOne Book program. Then their families will read and discuss the book together for a three-week period.
“One of the things we talk about all the time here with the Dallas Cowboys is if you want to become a better football player, you have to practice,” said Coach Garrett in kicking off last year’s program. “If you want to become a better reader, you have to practice. It’s fun to read. Read by yourself; read with your family. But just read.”

Ms. Sanchez helping to support Local Youth in Need
Ms. Sanchez has gotten the ball rolling on our campus to support two La Pryor area youth (Macus and Mariah) who are undergoing treatment for a difficult medical condition. Teachers across the campus have agreed to support an effort at having our young Bobcats send special gifts to try to get the pairs spirits up. This is a noble endeavor, and I am sure it will be received very well. Thank you to all who participate.

As the year rolls along and days get warmer it is difficult not to be excited about all of the learning that is happening on this campus. I am so proud to be a Batesville Bobcat, and for the opportunity to work with such a wonderful group of students, and an unparalleled professional team. I thank God each day for this opportunity.
