New Communication Tools for Parents

MVR-III has launched a new district website and a mobile app to communicate information to parents and the community. Some content on the new website is still under construction. We are working to ensure website subject matter and sub-topic themes are easy for parents to navigate. If you have a suggestion for our website, please email Ketina Armstrong, Director of Communications at

Meramec Valley School District is thrilled to announce our new app for mobile phones! Stay up-to-date with access to real-time student stories, news from administrators, school closings, sports scores, daily café menus, even emergency notifications, and more.

You can download the FREE app on both Google Play or the Apple App Store. Search for Meramec Valley R-III Schools in your app store.

***We are still adding information to the app, however, we don’t want to miss the opportunity for parents to get a head start with using the MVR-III app at the start of the school year.

News from Transportation

The 2019-2020 bus routes will see some changes as a result of the district’s adjustment of elementary attendance boundaries for Coleman Elementary, Nike Elementary, Robertsville Elementary, and Zitzman Elementary. In addition, the school board’s decision to establish an intermediate center, Pacific Intermediate, to serve grades five and six, and shift seventh grade to Riverbend Middle School will impact routing and ridership numbers for secondary routes. Changes in the boundary lines and assignment of grade levels was a result of studies showing overcrowding in some of the district buildings while other facilities were being underutilized. New this year, secondary buses will transport students in grades 5-12 and elementary routes will include K-4 students. Secondary buses may seem fuller this year with the added grade level joining the secondary routes. However, the MVR-III transportation department will ensure that no bus routes exceed capacity and acceptable state standards. The transportation department will be using the 2019 Summer School bus routes for the 2019 regular school year. Summer School allowed the Transportation Department to prepare a master system for the new school year.

Bus Tips:

  • Riding the bus on the first day of school helps students get into a routine
  • Arrive to the bus stop 10 minutes ahead of time
  • Parents of kindergarten and first grade students must be present for a student to be dropped off in the afternoon.
  • Review bus safety tips
  • Have a plan in case of an emergency
  • Students should remain seated on the bus at all times

(Explore drop down, Transportation drop down, then your student's grade level)

Academic School Calendar

We encourage parents to review the academic calendar prior to the start of the first day of school. MVR-III approved a calendar slightly different than the format used in the past. The district will no longer have early-release days once a month to help with student safety.

The district has adopted a new practice to ensure teacher trainings are embedded into the school calendar. The second and fourth Wednesday of each month will be a late start day, starting on August 28th. Buses will run 30 minutes later than their normal scheduled pickup time. Late start pickup times are listed on the bus route information sheets. Parents who need to keep a regular schedule will have the option to sign their student up for our School Age Child Care Programs or staff assistants will be available to supervise students being dropped off at 8:15 a.m. on those late start dates.

***Regular scheduled bus times are in black on the bus route sheets..

****Late start bus times are in red on the bus route sheets.

Secondary Late Start Time: 8:00 a.m.

Elementary Late Start Time: 9:05 a.m.

Reference the 2019-2020 academic school calendar for your convenience.
