Mrs. Dina's Kindergarten

Week of November 10th - 14th

Food and Nutrition

This week, we wrapped up our unit on Food and Nutrition. Your children learned so much about the food groups. We analyzed our lunches daily to see how many groups we had. On Monday, we discussed the fruit group and we made a delicious fruit salad. On Tuesday, it was all about the dairy group and we had cheese sticks as our snack. On Thursday, we discussed the oil group. We added a little bit of butter to our bread which your children really enjoyed. Finally, on Friday, to end our unit on Food and Nutrition we made our very own pizzas. All food groups were included in our pizza except for the vegetable. Although, when making these mini pizzas at home, be sure to add a vegetable.

Testing Week

Your children completed many tests this week. Most children are now done with the MAP tests. A few more will finish up this week. I will go over the test results with you at your parent/teacher conference. I am very proud of your children. The first round of testing is always the hardest. Your children were rewarded with special treats, extra recess, and lots of stickers.

Congratulations To Our Star Students!

Looking Ahead

Thanksgiving

As of November 17th, we will focus on Thanksgiving, Pilgrims, Indians, the Mayflower, and what we are Thankful for. I love this mini unit especially since Thanksgiving is around the corner. Children will realize what they are thankful for and we will try to understand true meaning of Thanksgiving.
