The Hungate Echo
Sherburn Hungate Weekly News - Spring Term 1 - Issue 5
A word from Mr Broom.
As always, school is a busy place and this week has been no exception. Our teachers met on Monday evening for an extra long staff meeting on developing writing across school. It was great to see so much passion for ensuring our children make outstanding progress. On Wednesday, we hosted the STAR Alliance Initial Teacher Training interviews and it's fair to say that our Junior Leadership Team really did grill the candidates with some fantastic questions at interview. We also hosted a governor/parent academy conversion meeting before our standards and achievement meeting. Finally today our year fives have visited Sherburn High to take part in a fun-packed modern foreign languages day. I can't wait to hear from them when they get back.
We break now for half term and I hope you have a lovely holiday. We look forward to welcoming the children back on Monday 19th February.
Our Star Achievers this Week
Attendance
Congratulations to our Year 6 children who are our attendance champions in school this week with 99.2%.
As you can see below, our attendance in most classes is above the national average which is fantastic. Thank you for your support on this.
We have a small number of children who's attendance is in well below the national expectations. These children are known as persistently absent when their attendance falls below 90%. I will be making telephone calls to parents of these children.
The overall attendance this term is 96.5% and is above national averages. Thank you for your continued support with our attendance drive. It is really appreciated.
