Don't forget about Daylight Savings time and change your clocks this weekend! I can't believe I just took our calendar through Christmas! Crazy fast!
We are looking forward to our performance this Friday at the Veteran's Day Assembly. Hope you can join us!
We so much fun dressing up for all of the Red Ribbon spirit days. The kids handled it all so well and were able to enjoy without being to wound up.
We won two fun awards! We won the Red Ribbon door decorating contest and got to eat ice cream sandwiches. We also won the PTA Box Top collection! Our class collected the most out of the whole school. The next collection will be in February, so start clipping and saving them now. We will be treated to Sonic Slushies by the PTA soon.
Our time with the Flower Mound Environmentalists was excellent. They set up activities in 4 classrooms and we rotated through them. One was all about composting and worms. Another was about trees and what they do for us and how we can protect them. Another was about reduce, reuse, recycle and the kids sorted items into those categories and learned about the landfill in Lewisville. The last room was about water. The kids were shown how pollutants are washed and spread into many locations when it rains. We learned so much.
We also enjoyed having Leah's daddy be our WATCH DOG. Fun and helpful!
Have a great week!

WHAT WE ARE LEARNING
Language Arts-We have read lots of Information Texts and learned how to identify the main idea and topics in them. We looked at nonfiction text features and what they are used for and how they can help us. We wrote some more explanatory pieces about our favorite foods and favorite toys. We did do a fun writing piece for Halloween about how to stop a pumpkin smasher.
Science-We explored sound energy. The class enjoyed using my Boom-Whackers, listening and learning about Maggie's violin, creating special effects sound with a ruler and making a telephone out of cups and string. They should understand vibrations and what makes a sound lower or higher in pitch.
