Earth Week Seed Paper
In an effort to save paper and avoid packaging, here are the instructions for the seed paper your child might bring home next week. Soak the paper in water overnight, tear it up, put it in some soil in a sunny spot and cover it up with about 1/4 inch of soil. Water lightly and keep it watered and you should be rewarded with some pretty wildflowers after a while. For the best chance of success, I'd recommend waiting until the 2nd week of May to plant.

GREAT GATHERINGS ARE BACK!
What is a GREAT GATHERING?
Great Gatherings are fantastic get-togethers hosted by Maple Dale families. They give us a chance to socialize outside of our normal school schedule, and raise money for our school at the same time.
You can be involved by either hosting or attending a Great Gathering.
If you choose to host, you can decide when/where the gathering will be held. Gatherings can be open to families, just for adults, couples activities, or be gender or grade specific.
Who can host a GREAT GATHERING?
Anyone can host!
You can host by yourself or with a friend our group.
If you want to host but aren't quite sure what to do, email us at mapledalecarnival@gmail.com. We have lots of ideas from past Great Gatherings events.
How do I sign up to host a GREAT GATHERING?

Volunteers Needed - COPE
Sycamore Community Schools is seeking Adult Volunteers
April 22nd - Professional Development Day
The certified staff of Sycamore Community Schools will be participating in a professional learning activity called “Cost of Poverty Experience (COPE)” led by facilitators from Think Tank Inc. on April 22nd. The purpose of the activity is to engage our staff in authentic, empathy-building experiences to better understand the daily struggles some of our families may experience as a result of economic fatigue.
Each session will include 120 staff participants. We are in need of 20 volunteers (COPE Resource Leaders) for each session to “role play” various community and business members. As a COPE Resource Leader, you will be given your role by the COPE facilitator during training. Training will be provided in the first hour of the volunteer shift. The time commitment will be approximately 3-1/2 hours. Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide babysitting services on this day, therefore volunteers are asked not to bring their children along.
